your ticket to getting your message out there to those who need it most

Sick of the hamster-wheel-flying-by-the-seat-of-your-pants approach to content creation? Trying to juggle ALL THE THINGS… but instead you’ve got balls falling and hitting you in the face?

It doesn’t have to be like this.

There’s a simple reason content creation feels like a chore that’s had all the fun sucked out of it. And it’s this: Content gets hard when we’re caught up in the “doing” (read: the shoulds) and forget the passion and purpose.

Let’s look at how we can make content less of a chore, something you actually enjoy and infuse it with fun. (I promise it’s possible!)

Get back to your roots

The whole reason content is a fun-sucking chore is because you’ve lost sight of the whole point of it’s existence. So, first things first!

Why did you start your business? Why not get a similar job working in a 9-5? What are you passionate about?

In other words: What’s your message? What’s that “thing” you want to share with people or help people with? What fuels and inspires you?

It’s easy to get caught up in all the need-to-do’s in our business and forget the passion and purpose (aka the whole reason we decided to start out biz in the first place). But that big picture? That’s what puts content into perspective.

Because struggling with content rarely has to do with content itself. You already have the ideas and the knowledge, so your struggles normally come down to resistance of some kind and/or thinking you have to do things “this” way (whatever you’ve convinced yourself or heard that that way is).

Step away from the blogging and social media, ebooks and course material for a sec, and tap back into why you’re in business in the first place. Reconnect with that passion and purpose and put content into perspective… it’s your ticket to getting your message out to those who need it most.

Want your content to stand out? I’ll let you in on a little “secret”

Creating epic content comes down to a few different factors:

  • Deeply understanding what your message is + what you stand for
  • Knowing who you’re targeting + what they need from you
  • Consistency
  • Practice
  • Hard work

You probably know all this already, but there’s another “secret” element that doesn’t necessarily involve having a live video strategy, or upping your Pinterest game, or writing 1000+ word blog posts (with content upgrade!) or including XYZ into every piece of content you write.

That secret? It’s doing content your own way. Because here’s the thing…

You don’t need to do what everyone else is doing.

You don’t need another tactic from a 6-figure guru.

You don’t need to force yourself to write or film videos or be on every social media platform known to humankind.

If it doesn’t feel good to you and make sense for your business, THEN DON’T DO IT.

Doing things your way is what makes your content unique

We’ve become trained to expect things to be a certain way with business, marketing and with content (both as creators and consumers). And if you’re just doing what’s expected and you’re the same as everyone else, it makes it super easy for you to blend into the crowd.

Now I’m not saying you have to go renegade or turn vigilante. But I am inviting you to join those entrepreneurs who, like you, are sick of the shoulds and need-to-do’s when it comes to creating content for their business. Those who have joined this content revolution that’s all about doing content their way.

Transform the way you think about content

We need to transform the way we think about content (and the stories we’re telling ourselves) so that we can allow ourselves to do content our way. No more blinding yourself to the possibilities, ok?

You want to write? Write.

You want to film videos? Do it.

You want to create an online course? Go for your life.

But remember to add a flavour and twist that is uniquely you. Circle back to your reason for being in business, revisit your message and sprinkle that passion and purpose throughout the things you create. Add personality. Bring in unexpected elements. Experiment. Tweak. And most importantly – keep moving forward.

Remember: Content gets hard when we’re caught up in the shoulds and forget the passion and purpose.

Content doesn’t have to be a chore. It can be fun and fulfilling. Just remember to tap back into why you’re doing this in the first place, reconnect with that passion and purpose and put things back into perspective. Then figure out what your way of doing content looks like. Then go do that. And keep doing it.

Let’s bring some ease when it comes to creating content, shall we?
